Class Teacher: Miss Abbie Sinden
Our PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday this term. Please ensure your child has the correct kit in school!
Please encourage your child to complete their homework independently and on time - it will help them in the transition to Secondary school!
Remember to sign your child's reading journal for them to be entered into the Friday raffle.
This term we will be studying the book 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibbotson. It is about a young orphan who can't wait to reach her distant relatives living a thousand miles up the Amazon. We will explore a number of genres whilst reading this book. Towards the end of the term, we will also look at the infamous scene of 'The Witches' from Macbeth.
A new handwriting scheme has been adopted by the whole school so we will spend time learning how to join letters correctly and fluently. It is an expectation that all children in Key Stage 2 should be joining their writing so please encourage your children at home.
In our reading sessions, we will be beginning a new way of teaching reading called 'Destination Reader'. The children will be looking at learning behaviours and exploring all the different skills needed to be a good reader.
During this term, we will be looking at decimals, percentages and algebra. We will recap on topics previously learnt such as multiplying/dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 as well as looking at new areas such as calculating percentages.
Please continue to encourage your child to practise their times tables at home!
