Class Teacher: Miss Abbie Sinden
Our PE lessons will take place on a Wednesday so please ensure your child's kit is in school.
Please could you send your child to school with a photograph of them reading in an unusual place for our reading display and something (certificate, photo etc.) which they are proud of to go on our 'Proud Cloud'.
English - Macbeth
We will be looking at the famous ‘Macbeth’ by William Shakespeare. We will compare a play script to a film version and discuss the different use of language. The children will retell the story through modern day language (writing a letter) and through drama (in small groups). This allows us to write in a range of styles and cover a variety of different genres.
We will be working on identifying the features of and writing ‘argument’ and ‘discussion’ texts. We will also work on our debating skills!
Please continue to read with your child at home or sign their reading journals to say that they have read independently. This will help them to earn reading miles!
We have got a very busy term for Maths! We are going to continue exploring adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions as well as looking closely at shape. Within our shape lessons, we will be looking at the parts of a circle, recognising angles and finding missing angles. We will also continue to look at a range of multi-step problems involving all four operations and explaining our reasoning.
Please continue to encourage your child to practise their times tables, they will need to know ALL of them for secondary school!
Geography: This term we will be exploring the question, "How do volcanoes affect the lives of people in Hiemaey?"
RE: We will look at Holy Communion and ask ourselves ‘How is Christian worship expressed? How can I communicate what inspires me & influences me?’
Science: Our topic is Animals and Humans, looking closely at: the circulatory system, drugs, diet, exercise, transportation of water and nutrients in humans and animals. We will be linking our PA to this and complete ‘Circuit Training’ tasks and experiments.
